THE COMPANY

Von Winning is among the most representative winery of Pfalz. Born back in 1849, Von Winning has always been in step with the times both for vineyard management and for vinification in the cellar. Respect for nature, no use of synthetic products in the vineyards, density of 9.500 plants per hectare (as at the end of 19th century) as well as exclusive use of traditional methods in the cellar (natural fermentation in 500 liters oak barrels, rest on the lees for up to 2 years before bottling). The result is wines of terroir, elegant, mineral and deep, perfect oenological icons of this increasingly renowned German region.

Rheinland-Pfalz

Pfalz

The Pfalz (Palatinate) is the largest vineyard in Germany: it is an 80-kilometer strip north of Alsace, abutting the Haardt, Germany's continuation of the Vosges, and like Alsace is the sunniest and driest part of the country. The riesling variety is the most common here, with muller-thurgau in second place, but 60 percent of the region's wines are made from a blend of various grapes. Indeed, the Pfalz area produces a wide range of whites and reds in every shade, including the entire family of barrel-aged and modern-style Pinots.
