THE COMPANY

Socré was founded in 1869, but only in 1958 that its wine growing and producing history actually began. In this year Benedetto Piacentino renovated the vineyards and increased Nebbiolo vines surface. In the early 1990s, Marco joined his father and the winery acquired its present form and became one of the rising stars of Barbaresco landscape. Between 2010 and 2012 the new cellar was built and from then all the grapes produced are used to produce estate wines. The Nebbiolo vineyards are located between 250 and 300 metres a.s.l., facing south-west with medium-high slopes, and offer extraordinary fine and elegant wines, which give their best after a few years. The soils texture of mainly clay and limestone nature is the perfect habitat for Nebbiolo, that finds his great expression on these hills, and let Marco establish himself as a small vigneron in the varied in Langhe world. The two Barbera and Freisa, naturally together with the various Cru of Barbaresco, confirm the quality level of this small reality of Barbaresco.

Barbaresco

Nebbiolo finds its best expression in the Langhe hills, in the limestone clay soils of the Barbaresco area. The vines are generally placed lower and therefore warmer than those in Barolo, so the harvest takes place earlier. The wines, ready earlier than the latter, are more appreciated by modern, impatient wine consumers.
