THE COMPANY

Located in Milly, in the heart of Chablis vineyards, the Dampt domaine boasts 30 hectares of planted vines, 16 of which Premier Cru. The Domaine was created by Daniel in the 50’s, together with this father-in-law Jean Defaix, even if his family had been working the vineyard for more than 150 years. Dampt represents this region, the furthest north of Burgundy, at its best, first with Chablis Village, fresh and drinkable, then with two Premier Crus in which the terroir can be sensed even though they have different edges. These two wines represent the archetype of Chablis wines, elegant and austere when young but which displays all its elegance as time passes. Refined and elegant wines with a high mineral content, great interpreters of white wines of Burgundy.

Chablis

In cold climates, vineyards need exceptional conditions to perform well. Chablis is 160 km north of Beaune and is therefore closer to Champagne than the rest of Burgundy. The secret lies in the geological structure: the outcropping rock mass of the edge of a huge submerged limestone basin from Dorset, on the other side of the English Channel, gives the name Kimmeridge to this unique deposit of prehistoric oyster shells.
