THE COMPANY

It is on the steep slopes of Licorella, where Garnatxa and Carinyena grow alongside Syrah, Cabernet and ancient white grape varieties, that Adrets del Priorat was born. The project came to fruition in 2016, the result of a collaboration between the Belondrade family, their friend Gonzalo Cores and a unique landscape. Fascinated by the untamed power of the ‘Clos de l’Afaitador’ — an ancient terraced vineyard in El Molar, nestled in the heart of the woods opposite the Serra del Montsant — they decided to breathe new life into this forgotten place. This marked the beginning of the Adrets del Priorat adventure. In 2023, the estate took a step forward with the acquisition of its own winery in Torroja del Priorat. Today, it spans 7.5 hectares spread across eight organically farmed plots. Guided by a respect for the identity of each plot, the winery seeks a pure expression of the terroir, creating wines that combine depth, freshness and the refined elegance of the Priorat.

Priorat

A producer of special wines, Priorat is a region of Spain surrounded by steep terrain in high altitudes. Firmly protected to the northwest by Montsant, the Priory is a long ridge of rough outcrops. But it is its particularly unusual soil, called llicorella, a dark brown slate whose jagged rocky surface glows in the sun from quartzite inclusions, that gives Priory's best wines their distinctive mineral essence.
