THE COMPANY

Gin, as we know it, has been produced for the first time in Netherlands in the University of Leiden by Francis Sylvius who sought the remedies for soldiers engaged in wars. Hooghoudt founded in 1888 by Hero Jan Hooghoudt, distilled its first Gin in 1920 and was immediately a success to the point of having to leave the old distillery and move in a new factory, suitable for the growing demand of that period. In 1994 the fourth generation took the reins of the distillery and in September 2015 it was launched the new Premium line De Borgen, that represents the new, the remote and the recent past with three products of very high quality that express the best spirits’ production of Netherlands.
